Meet William

Hello! I am so happy you are here!

As a lifelong creative, I found my passion in abstract art during the 2020 pandemic. My acrylic paintings often explore themes of queerness and neurodivergence through vibrant colors, organic forms, and rich textures.

  • This very 🌈 Pride-influenced piece stands apart from the rest of this series because it is the only one to have significant use of ultra-saturated, fluorescent colors. Additionally, it consists almost entirely of layer upon layer of just my biomorphic (β€œblob”) shapes. These organic shapes throughout the series represent all of our diverse intersections of perspectives and lived experience, but they play an especially clear role in this composition.

As a queer person, it is important to me to continue creating explicitly queer art to assist in diminishing the stigma that LGBTQIA+ people face each day.

Lempicka

  • 🎢 The real art was how to survive.

I painted this piece after seeing the Broadway musical about the life of Tamara de Lempicka, an Art Deco painter in April 2024. Its bold greens and teals are inspired by the signature green Lempicka wears and paints in the show. Eden Espinosa gave a chill-inducing, show-stopping performance as Lempicka, and I think about her voice whenever I look at this piece.

  • β€œI think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.” β€” Alice Walker

πŸͺ»This piece is named after the incredibly resilient protagonist of The Color Purple. I was so touched and impressed by the recent film and also by the outstanding production at Geva Theatre I saw in May that I knew I had to make a piece for my collection inspired by this story and this woman.
