Oaxaca
2025 • ACRYLIC & CHARCOAL • 12 × 16 in
This piece is based on a photo taken by Lindsay Jow in Oaxaca, México. The original shot has so much vibrant color and line that it lent itself quite well to an abstract take. There are nods in my piece to all of the leaves and the bougainvillea, as well as to the architecture of the windows and railings. If you look carefully, you can even find the word “DISEÑO” (“design”) hidden in my piece, from the writing above the top left door.
This piece was created as part of a “Paint Together” challenge that an artist friend, Pauline Wegman, organized via Instagram.
