Naranjas sevillanas (Seville Oranges)
NOTE: THIS PIECE IS IN AN EXHIBITION 2/18-3/31/2025. Please contact me if interested in purchasing during this time.
2025 • ACRYLIC, PASTEL, CHARCOAL • 12 in x 16 in
This piece features a cold blue and white background, representing the wintry days we experience for months in Rochester. But in the foreground, inspired by a photo of bitter oranges in Sevilla, Spain, there are bursts of warmer hues. Though our winter may be long, our summer is gloriously mild. And sometimes all you need is a small reminder like these orange and green marks to remember spring and summer are on their way—in the form of seeds that are already buried beneath the ice and snow.
This piece was created as part of a “Paint Together” challenge that an artist friend, Pauline Wegman, organized via Instagram.
